Getting To Know Treasure Troopers: Part II: Cash Surveys

•June 18, 2009 • 1 Comment

For those of you that actually read my blog, I am so sorry I late writing my blog tonight. The kids were awful today, I had homework due (going to school online, how cool is that?), and my sister in law came for a visit and some Blackberry Help. So I have been pretty busy today.

Nevertheless, here is the part two I promised.

The second part of getting to know treasure troopers is extremely simple! You just have to be you. Of course you have to creat your treasure troopers account first by clicking here .  Once you have your account created and have gotten the hang of Cash Offers, try some Cash Surveys.  These do not give you spam, so you can use your proper email (ALWAYS use a valid email, even if it isn’t one you pay much attention to).  Click on cash surveys after logging in (it’s on the left side, underneath the treasure troopers banner).  You have the option of doing three different daily surveys and case studies.

I like to click on the case studies first.  These are easy to determine whether or not you qualify because the specific audience is listed in the explanation.  So if you meet the audience, go ahead and do those studies!  Some of them pay 3.00 per survey.

Once you are done with the studies, click on each of the cash survey sections and follow the instructions.  Be sure that you are always truthful in these surveys because you can get banned from getting surveys approved if you lie or tell conflicting stories.

That’s pretty much it!  Simple huh?

Sneak Peak for Friday:  Im taking a day off and will be back on Saturday! (really Im not blogging tomorrow!)

Getting To Know Treasure Troopers: Part 1: Cash Offers

•June 17, 2009 • 1 Comment

So we discussed treasure troopers a bit this past week, but I never told you what you needed to know to really get started. For that I do apologize. Over the next couple of days I will explain to you, in detail, how to use the treasure troopers site. Because my main source of earnings has been the cash offers, let’s start there.

First thing we need to do is go and create an account. Click here to get your treasure troopers account started.  When you fill out the profile information, you have to give accurate information or the site will not be able to send you your check.  As I have stated before, there is a risk of spam, so if you only have your main email, you may want to to yahoo or hotmail and create a free account to deal with the spam email you will encounter.

Once you have your profile setup, you will need to get started on the cash offers by click on cash offers on the right hand side of the homepage.  In the center of the page you will see a ton of offers.  I am personally cheap and will not pay to do any offers, so I select the option to show the 100% free offers in order from highest to lowest paying, but you choose how you want to do it.

Once you have selected an offer, read the instructions fully.  I have found that the offers that ask you to enter email address with intent to participate actually pay out better if you go through the entire survey.  Now, these can be time consuming and aggravating and do not always pay out if you do them back to back.  My suggestion is to do one or two, then clear your cookies and then go back in and do some more.

If at any point you do an offer that requires you to sign up for a survey site or any kind of site, you will have to verify your email address, so make sure that “spam” address you have set up is accessible for you.

Once you have completed the offer completely and followed the instructions, hit the done button beside the offer to play the game.  You simply select one or the other of the shells or treasure boxes to open and see if you have won a prize.

You are now done with the offer!  It will show up in your pending offers on your treasure page.  Once it has been approved you will see it in your approved offers! :)

Good luck and happy Troopering! If you have any questions about how to do it, remember not to be afriad to ask! :)

My Top Ten Cost Cutting Ideas

•June 16, 2009 • 1 Comment

There are many ways to cut your costs as I have discovered over the last couple of months. The following is a list of my favorite ways to cut costs. And yes I have tried them all!

10. Video on Demand. I probably would have cut out the cable completely when I quit my job if it hadn’t been for the fact that my hubby actually works for the cable company and we pay a discounted price. What we did change was date night. It may not be as exciting, but instead of getting all dressed up and paying upwards of 50 bucks to go to the theater (plus babysitter costs), we put the kids to bed, pop some popcorn, grab a drink, and search the free movies on demand using our cable service. If there is a new release we just can’t resist we occassionally purchase a movie, either way is cheaper than going to the movies. This has been a lot of fun for us because we can still get all dressed up and turn the lights down low. And it doesn’t look weird when we “old folks” decide to sneak a kiss during the movie either!

9. Kool-aid, tea, and water. Those delicious sodas can be quite expensive and even full of sugar. We drink a lot of water (out of the tap, bottled water makes no sense unless your tap water is unsafe). Additionally, I will make kool-aid (store brand of course) and tea (this one has to be lipton, I buy when it’s on sale or I have a coupon) for a special treat. Not only am I contributing to better health of my family by drinking a lot of water, we’re also saving money. And yes, Kool-Aid does go further than soda.

8. Im potty training my kids with just pull-ups during naptime and nighttime. That’s right. Im crazy and I have to clean up a lot of spills, but it is actually seeming to work, plus Im saving money by not having to constantly buy pull-ups! You may want to start off by getting the kid used to a potty chair, but mine seem to have done better by simply being stripped of their pull up safety net.

7. Cut your hair at home. Now, this one isn’t for everyone, but it works for us. The two boys (dad and my 3 year old), dad cuts and I trim the 2 year old girl’s ends. My hair I will trim, but when I do need a shaping cut, I do go to a professional. Because I trim it myself, I actually go less, which is the biggest savings of all the haircuts. If you can save yourself 8 bucks by cutting your kids hair at home, why not? If you are afraid you are going to mess it up, ASK for help or research the internet for hair cutting techniques.

6. I talked about this one when I was discussing my grocery bill, but buy store brand items. Store brand products are normally made by the exact same name brand companies, just packaged differently. And you can save a ton of money buying on the cheap.

5. Turn the thermostat up during the summer, down during the winter. Now I love to be cool just as much as the next guy, but I also hate seeing a high electric bill. I have found that keeping my thermostat right about 69 during the summer (some say it should be 72, but I would have a stroke) works best for me. Whatever you do, don’t continuously change the temperature. In the winter, 67 works good for us. Because we have an upstairs and downstairs, the upstairs tends to stay warmer in the winter, so we hang out there rathen than upping the temp.

4. Thrift store shopping. That’s right I said it. Shop those thrift stores, some even donate their proceeds to a good cause (such as Goodwill). YOu won’t be able to buy everything at thrift stores but there is nothing wrong with buying clothes, books, and even toys at a thrift store. Saves a lot of money, especially when you have kids that are as little and make as many messes as mine do. I buy them new outfits, but mostly for special occassions. for everyday play clothes, thrift stores and yard sales are excellent.

3. Flea markets or bent/dent stores. I would never recommend you purchase a dented can as far as food goes, but I would suffest that these stores sometimes offer some really awesome deals, especially on cleaning and bath products. Sometimes the product may not be in the best of shape and make have a broken top or the pump doesn’t work. For general merchandise (excluding medicine) this should be ok. I have bought many bottles of broken baby shampoo (namebrand) for less than a dollar!

2. If you must eat out, eat cheap. We have encountered a few times where we have been out and about during lunchtime and just could not get back at home. So, with two screaming children and not much money, we’d have to eat out. Now this is not something we do very often, so it’s always a treat. When we do go out, we do not look to buy the most expensive thing on the menu. Even for a family of 4, we can eat at a casual dining resturaunt and spend less than 30. First, we get water to drink instead of the higher priced soda. Second, the kids menu is normally large enough (and the kids appetite small enough) that the kids can split a kids meal, and maybe steal from fries from mom and dad. If you’re kids are older or eat more, you may do better to buy them their own seperate plates. finally, we eat what we like, but we do not go overboard. If we do get steak, we get the smaller size because neither of us can eat a huge steak.

And my favorite cost cutting tip???????

1: EAT AT HOME!!!!! Yes I said that too….right behind telling you to eat cheap when you go out. EAting at home has so many positive aspects that it is hard for me to understand why no one wants to eat at home anymore. Regardless, making meals from scratch are much more cost effective than purchasing them pre-made. No tip to pay, no extra sides to order, and no screaming kids (except for your own) to deal with!

These are just my favorite cost cutting ideas, there are many more. If you have any, please feel free to share them.

What About Spam?

•June 15, 2009 • 1 Comment

Over the last few days I have crammed websites down your throat! Well, I know it’s great to be making the money but now you have all this spam and may be asking “what about all this spam?”My answer for you is to create a free email address, seperate from the one you use to communicate personally and professionally. You can get a free email address from Yahoo

or you can get one from Hotmail.

Now, instead of using your personal email address, simply insert your new free email address.  And yes you will still have to clean it out.  Simply go in and delete everything.  No need for you to have to read all that junk. Just be sure that if the offer tells you to verify your email address, you do so before deleting, otherwise the offer will not be approved.

Simple enough huh guys?  good luck and happy troopering! :)

Quick Review of Legit Money Making Websites

•June 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

For as long as I have been using the internet, there have been money making websites.  I always thought there were ALL just scams, until I actually learned how to use them.  As a stay at home mom, I can’t afford to mess around with websites that aren’t legitimate.  Below is a listing and short review (I will post singular post with more details on each site later on).

1. Name: Treasure Troopers

Website Link: http://www.treasuretrooper.com/282520

Description: Money making website with a variety of offers, surveys, and community support.  There is a fun “treasure hunting” aspect that makes this website different from other money making websites.

Payout options:  Check or paypal, you choose! :)

Rating:  I will have to rate this one an 8, only because every offer will not always approve.  I am not sure if it’s the actual company or if it is the company that is paying tt for their services, but some offers do not approve no matter how well you do them.  I would still do it.  It is totally worth it.  So far I have made 176.  And that’s without using the shopping function! :)

Name: Mypoints

Website: www.mypoints.com

Description: This is my second favorite, even if it doesn’t pay money.  Once again, there are many different offers, surveys and email readings you can do to earn points.  It isn’t as fun as treasure troopers, but offers do payout better.

Payout:  Gift card “rewards”…..and yes they have paid out.

Rating:  I would give Mypoints a 9.  They payout well but aren’t quite as much fun as TT.  If you want a referrel invite, please send me an email to m4k2004@comcast.net and title it MyPoints Reference

Name: memolink

Website: www.memolink.com

Description: Memolink is one of my newest endeavors but has lots of offers and points.  I have earned over 500 points and I just joined yesterday.

Payout: Rewards section to choose your reward from

Rating:  I will have to reserve my rating for now because I have not been paid out yet.  The person that referred me is a close friend and neighbor and they have been paid out several times.  She is also part of the same sites I am and she gives her rating as a 9 for this one.  The only thing she doesn’t like is the variety of rewards! You can go directly to the website or you can send me an email to m4k2004@comcast.net with title of MEMOLINK reference and I will get you a referrel email sent out.

I do know this is NOT a full list of LEGITIMATE money or reward making websites, but these are the only ones I am participating in at this time.  If you have other money making or reward sites that I might be interested in, please feel free to post your referrel links in my comments.  I would appreciate if you do to also give me a short description as well as the form of payout.

Good luck to you all and remember, you do not have to spend all day doing these, you can spend an hour at the most, then forget about it :)

Sneak peak for Monday:  What about SPAM?

How I cut my grocery bill in half!

•June 13, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Believe it or not, quitting my job and staying at home with the kids actually saved me money.  I no longer had to pay daycare or buy an expensive tank of gas every week, so while I may not be bringing in a weekly paycheck, I actually saved my household some money.  One of the ways I was able to save money was to cut my grocery bill in half.  And you can too.  here are the tips I used and hope they bring you as much help as they have brought me.

1.  Stop buying name brand.  Really is it worth an extra $.50 to buy Hunts Catsup rather than to buy storebrand?  It’s not, not really.  There are just a few things that are worth the extra money, one of those I have found is Sara Lee bread.  The bread stays fresh for what seems forever and is so good.  So while I refuse to buy anything but Sara Lee bread, I save alot of money by simply buying the cheaper brand.

2.  Stop buying convience foods.  That’s right I said it.  Stop buying those ready to cook lasagnas and tv dinners.  It’s cheaper and much more fun to cook the meal from scratch.  If you have to have convenience foods, think veggie trays that are AT LEAST healthy.  While it might look like it costs more to buy all the products to make a specific recipe rather than to buy it premade, the thing is when you buy the products, you more often than not have extra product for the next time!  So go on, get the kids and the hubby or wifey  (depending on whether your a sahm or sahd) in the kitchen and have fun saving money and cooking together!

3.  If possible, buy in bulk.  We have heard this from our mom’s, grandmother’s, and even tv personalities, and many of us have followed the advice too well.  Yes, you want to buy in bulk, but do not buy it if it is going to go to waste.  Yes buy that big pack of hamburger meat, seperate and freeze it.  No do not buy that 50 lb box of  fresh lettuce.  You have to consider whether or not you will get your money’s worth.  I will buy chicken and hamburger meat in large quantities, but usually buy no more than 1 month’s worth of cube steak.  Remember, the rule of thumb is that if you are sure every bit of what you are purchasing will be used, go for it.  If you think it might go to waste, then you really aren’t saving money, so purchase the smaller package.

4.  Go to the grocery store prepared.  First off, if you have to take the kids (like I do), make sure you have them fed and changed before you go (nothing like having to change a poopie diaper with a huge cart of groceries and no help).  Take sippie cups and snacks with you so that the kids are not  begging at the counters.  If you don’t have to take the kids, then make sure you are fed and have a grocery list.  We tend to buy more when we are hungry.  So make that list, fix yourself some breakfast and then head out to complete your shopping!

5.  Make your menu in advance.  I shop bi-weekly so what I do is make a tentative menu for dinner for every night.  Making this menu in advance helps in more ways than just saving money, but the effect can be seen on your tab as well.  When you make your menu, you know exactly how much of what you need and are able to mae a better grocery list than if you simply looked at your cabinets.  Now if you cook more than I do (I only cook breakfast and lunch 2 days a week and dinner all 7), you will want to make sure you make a more complete menu.  In addition, if you are more lax like I am, make the menu for the meals you cook for and ensure that you plan uncooked or little preperation meals for the other meals during the day.

6.  Here’s my biggest money saver yet.  I clip coupons.  And no I do not use the Sunday paper, although that might be a good place to start.  What I have done is I have started using the MyPoints coupons section of my MyPoints account.  Do you remember when I said don’t  buy namebrand?  Well, if you just can’t stop yourself, then using coupons are a great idea.  And MyPoints coupons are a great place to start.  If you are interested in a MyPoints account for getting the coupons, please email at m4k2004@comcast.net with your first name  only! :) And those 6 tips are how I cut my grocery bill in half!  Good luck and I hope those tips are just as succesful for you.  Please feel free to comment with any tips you might have as well!

Sneak Preview for Sunday: Quick Review of Well Known Websites!

First Post is My FAVORITE!

•June 12, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Well I started this blog just today for two reasons.  The main reason is that as a stay at home mom, I am being asked all the time how I manage to be able to do it and still have extra money to add to the home.  The answer is so very simple.  When the kids are napping, I am on the computer making my computer work for me.  The second reason is that I want to be sure that anyone interested in making money online understands that there is no such thing as free money.

Now that I have this blog started,  you tell me.  You are sitting at home with the kids while hubby is at work.  You know you are contributing to the household just by making sure the kids are well taken care of, but what about that down time?  Wouldn’t you like something that would give you something fun to do as well as make some money in the process.  It feels like free money, but make no mistake, you do have to put some effort into it.
I have just the site for you and it is my absolute favorite site of all.  It’s called TREASURE TROOPERS.  I have been a member for about 2 years, though I just recently bumped up my participation after I quit my job to stay at home with the kids.  These are my stats:

My Treasure

Offer Earnings Due:$-2.05
Offer Earnings Paid:$168.30
Shopping Earnings Due:$0.00
Shopping Earnings Paid:$0.00
Referral Commission Due:$4.63
Referral Commission Paid:$8.47

Total Amount Due:$2.58
Total Paid to Date:$176.77
NO you will not get rich but you will make honest money that is legitimate and fun.  There are so many aspects to treasure troopers, not just taking surveys.  You can also get referrels through using your cash, join the forum treasure hunts, get great shopping offers, and even participate in a fun treasure hunt on your own.
If all this sounds like fun to you, then click here .  I promise you will not regret your decision.  I have done a lot of money making scams over the last few years and I genuinely believe in this one.
The one thing I would like to offer that many people will not offer when referring someone to a website is the opportunity to offer you support.  If you have any questions at all please feel free to post them in the comments section, or send me an email at m4k2004@comcast.net.  I will reply as quickly as possible but please remember that I also have children to tend to!
Good luck and happy Treasure Troopering!
Sneak Peak for Saturday:  How I cut my grocery bill in half!!!!!! :)
